and threatens to kill her.
He does this in order to control her and to keep
her in line.He says she deserves it because she
did not do the dishes the way he wants or
because she painted her fingernails like a whore
or because she went out and did not check in with
him.
His friends monitor her activities,when he is not
around.He calls her names like whore and slut
to intimidate her,and threatens to harm their
children.
He tells her that he owns her,and that no one else
would want her now,and she believes him.
This woman feels helpless and exhausted all the
time.
friends and family,say she chose
to be in the relationship,or they
say that it could not be that bad,
because if if it was that bad she
would just leave.
This woman is a battered wife,
but she is also a prostitute.
More often than not,a female in
that position ie (prostitute) only
reveals part of what is going on
in their lives.

What would a person's reaction be
if,the female then reveals that
her husband (partner) also sells
her to other men for sex or makes
pornography of her,to also sell to
other men.
DOMESTIC VIOLENCE.

their partners,not forgetting beating
the female up and use weapons

This violence is the means of

controlled and imprisoned by fear.

and sell women for sex.
it has been estimated,that in the
US (1993) that over 90% of
prostitutes are controlled by pimps
Tricks (US term) are men who buy
women and girls for sex
the (UK term) is punter/client
either way the prostitute is regularly
battered,raped and even murder
by these punters.
CONNECTION between
Domestic Violence,Pornography
and Prostitution.
Women and young girls involved in prostitution,as many have stated,
can trace their involvement in
prostitution to sexual violence,that
began in the home as physical,
verbal and sexual violence at wives
girlfriends,sisters,daughters and
granddaughters.
In the US,only ten to twenty per
cent of prostitution is street based
(report 2001)
hence,the report belie the myth
that most prostitution occurs on
urban streets corners,
which the same can be said of the
UK urban street corner and/or
known red light districts,that once
was thriving with prostitutes.

from her home and/or
operating from the comfort of her

of prostitution,factor in the client/
punter and/or the office colleague
who now has means to blackmail
his female colleague.
A female who uses all forms of
the prostitution system over 30 yrs
can mention being repeatedly
beaten and gang raped,in vehicles
back rooms of properties,strip
clubs,hotel rooms while out on call
and in massage parlours.
The fact is,prostitution occurs more
behind close doors,in homes and
businesses and in suburban and
rural areas,than it does on any
inner city street corner.
In addition to domestic violence,
most prostituted women also have
a histories of neglect and abuse
from families,social isolation,
sexual,psychological and physical
abuse,drug and alcohol abuse and
limited alternatives for escaping the
abuse.
Some cultures view wives as
their personal property,whereas
in the world of prostitution,women
are the property of many men.
Husbands and boyfriends
commonly use wives and girlfriend
in prostitution,especially
pornography.

Consenting adults in a bonafide
relationship in accepted as normal,

summary of torture,in which the
torturer(s) deprive their victim(s)
of social support,eliminate stimuli,
other than those controlled by the
captor,and block non-compliant
behaviour(s)
Batters and pimps,socially isolate
woman,thereby diminishing their
ability to resist,their captors use
EXTREME VIOLENCE to
demonstrate the futility of
resistance,like other batterers,
pimps attempt to maintain
complete control over 'their'
woman,and
ensure that the female is to
TERRIFIED and to psychologically
and physically broken down to
contemplate escape.
Like pimps,men who batter their
wives in the home,also exploit
their wives and girlfriends
economically to maintain control
over them.
Batters may also destroy the
woman's possessions,and threaten
to hurt or murder them,their pets,
or their children,if the woman tries
to leave.
Pimps break women down
emotionally,psychologically,and
physically before they
TURN WOMEN OUT INTO
PROSTITUTION.
This involves,BATTERING THEM,
hitting,punching,kicking,starving,
RAPING,verbally abuse,usually
along the lines,that she chose
prostitution,and/or she is good for
nothing but sex.
Pimps socially isolate prostituted
women,threatening to blackmail them with PORNOGRAPHY
MADE OF THEM,and keep them
from getting employment,outside
of prostitution.
Often pimps do not let prostituted
women OUT OF THEIR SIGHT.

Pimps actually use that,false/
hollow tactic of flattery,to establish
a relationship with the chosen
female,the one they wish to
seduce/force into prostitution.

ownership through traditional
husband/boyfriend relationships
allows the pimp to gain women
and girls' trust and begin the
process of COERCION.
They can expect a beating,rape,
threats of murder,even murdered.

burns,and MISCARRIAGES.

to the emergency department,
with injuries inflicted by boyfriends
and husbands.

of all injured women who visit the
emergency department,are injured
by an abusive partner.
PROSTITUTED WOMEN
also have serious physical injuries,
resulting from rapes and beatings
by their pimp,clients,and partners,
like battered women,prostituted
women seek emergency care for
broken bones,burns,fractured
skulls,and many other physical
injuries.
Physical assault by a pimp,could
last several years,resulting in visits
to the emergency department
several times a year.
Many that were assaulted,were
beaten severely enough to have
suffered a BROKEN BONE,
reports of assaults,so vicious that
women have spent time in a coma.
92% of the woman who visited
the emergency department,
suffering physical abuse by their
partners,
did not discuss their incidents with
the physicians,while 57% did not
discuss the incidents with anyone.
Many prostituted women are
disabled from emotional traumas
and physical injuries,including
brain injuries,suffered during
prostitution.
many enter psychiatric units,
suffering from mental breakdown.
If they have children,they are in
fear of discussing their relationship
with an abusive partner,which is
typical and/or mention that they are
a prostitute/prostituted
as they could loss custody of
their children,loss of a 'straight'
job,judgmental attitudes,and
re-victimisation
at the hands of health staff.
Many turn to Substance abuse,
to cope with 'terror' and/or
using substances functions as an
analgesic for physical pain from
the battery and/or rape,that they
receive from their pimps.
